Halfway point
We have reached the midpoint of your first semester in college. What has been your biggest surprise so far? Biggest disappointment? What are you thoughts as you ponder what classes to take next semester. Please respond by Wednesday, Nov. 2.
My biggest surprise so far has been that my classes are actually fairly easy, and that it's not that hard to get good grades. I don't really have any disappointments, but I was annoyed with the advising office for messing up my schedule, for now I have to take a math class over the summer. I already have my classes scheduled for next semester, but from my experience so far, I know that I will meet with my adviser, Dr. Barta, to talk about my schedule and the classes I should take.
ReplyDeleteWhat surprised me the most was my perception of college. In the beginning I thought that college was going to eat me alive, however it is not as hard as it seemed. I do not have any disappointment but there are things that I believe I can improve on.
ReplyDeleteMaking friends, and transitioning so easily was my biggest surprise. I couldn't believe how comfortable I got so fast. My biggest disappointment is probably my Biology grade. I wasn't at all expecting that class to be as hard as I found it to be. I'm excited to be taking some art credits, and math! I love math classes. I cant wait for next semester.
ReplyDeletemy biggest surprise so far is how fast the semester is going by, it feels like just last week we were just beginning class. I don't really have any disappointments, but as of next semester i will take less classes i think i could benefit from that.
ReplyDeleteLooking back on the first half of the semester, I believe that my biggest surprise has been that a lot of my professors seem to value critical thinking and application of knowledge more than rote memorization and recitation of facts. My biggest disappointment has been that my time-management skills are not as great as I thought they were, causing me to struggle to complete some of my assignments on time. However, I can see the efficiency with which I manage my time increasing as I work harder at it, and that has been extremely satisfying. Next semester, I plan on trying to CLEP out of one of my math pre-requisites. I also hope to avoid taking general biology II, if at all possible, because there exist plenty of science classes I need to take as a chemistry major and I don't want to stretch myself thin on classes that don't fit into my academic goals.
ReplyDeleteI think my biggest surprise for the first half of the semester is how fast it's going by. Some days I feel like it's so slow and now it just seems like it's flying by! I think some of my disappointments would be the transition and making friends. I'm not from here, so meeting people has been the struggle. A lot of my friends commute, so I'm not really able to hangout or see them as much as I'd like to. As this next semester is coming up, I'm thinking of maybe taking less classes. This semester I know I've definitely struggled with time management just because it's very hard to balance school, social life, extracurriculars, etc.
ReplyDeleteSo far I think my biggest surprise is that the classes aren't as difficult as I originally thought they would be. I haven't really had any disappointments so far. The semester is actually going by pretty fast. As far as next semester goes, I am going to have less classes so I think it's going to take some stress off of me.
ReplyDeleteI was surprised by how my classes aren't that much more challenging than I took in high school. I have always been told that college is so different from high school. I was disappointed by my grade on the first biology test. I think most of the class was. Next semester, I will only have classes Tuesday-Thursday, so I think it will be a little easier.
ReplyDeleteThe biggest surprise is that the classes aren't too hard and I don't have to study 24/7. The biggest disappointment was not being prepared for my first exam and failing it. Next semester will be tougher classes but a shorter week so I will have more time on my hands to get things done and have time for myself.
ReplyDeleteMy biggest surprise, is the difficulty of my schedule. I thought it would have been a lot harder. I am satisfied with my professors and class thus far. My major is currently undecided but I believe I am going to take more science class considering I want a job in the medical field.
ReplyDeleteMy biggest surprise was how varied my assignments have been and how nice all my professors are. I do not really have any disappointments, so far, which I am happy about. Next semester I will be taking general education classes, since I am still determining what I will major in.
ReplyDeleteMy biggest surprise is how complicated some classes appear to be. You would think they would be simple because they are general education classes, but they are not simple. However, there are amazing professors here who are dedicated to help you succeed.
