Now that you have completed your service at the Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge, what do you think about what we did and accomplished? Did we do enough? Too much? Did this reinforce your willingness to volunteer in the future? Please post a response by Wednesday, Oct. 12.

ReplyDeleteI think this trip to the Detroit river international wildlife refuge was good for all the students and workers because, not only did we get to help then get more stuff done in a shorter amount of time. but we helped protect trees and plants from dears and other animals. and after this experience I think I am more likely to think about volunteering in the future.

I believe the work that we completed at the Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge, was good for the workers and the environment. We completed a large amount of work in a small amount of time while learning along the way. This project didn’t decrease or enhance the possibility that I will volunteer in the future, I will volunteer anytime when the opportunity presents itself.

ReplyDeleteI believe the work we accomplished helped a lot. On the first day, we were able to clear an area of dogwood, which they did not want growing there. The second day, we were able to accomplish a lot of different tasks, which helped the environment. This did reinforce my decision to volunteer in the future. I have been planning on volunteering at vet clinics and shelters, so this helped me decide that veterinary medicine was the best choice for me out of the biology majors.
During our service learning project at the Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge, I believe that we helped relieve the team there of some work by cutting up sticks to create a prairie space. Also, we managed to get other work done for the Refuge, like removing old protective coverings so that trees don't have their growth stunted. We did a lot of work, and I genuinely feel we did as much as possible with the time allotted to us. I would definitely volunteer again.
ReplyDeleteDuring our service learning project at DRIWR, I believe we helped the volunteers working to help make the refuge a better place. I think with what we had to do, it taught us a lot about working together as a team and we got as much as we could done in the little amount of time that we had. I would definitely volunteer again because why not?
ReplyDeleteI think what we did really helped, we did accomplish a is a short amount of time, what it would have took them to do in hours we completed it in a hour. i don,t feel as if we did enough and i think it would be fun to go back. this has influenced me to consider going back.
ReplyDeleteThe work we did at the refugee was phenomenal. The hard work that we did not only helped the environment but it also helped the unknown or endangered species that live there. I liked the second day more than the first day, however i feel as though more work was done in the first day.
ReplyDeleteI think what we did at the refuge definitely helped, since there were so many of us, and not that many of the actual volunteers. We did what would have taken them days to do, in less than 2 hours. I feel as though we didn't do enough, but being there 2 days was good enough. I've always loved to volunteer, but I never have really enjoyed doing outdoor work, so this was a newer experience for me. I still love to volunteer, and will volunteer in the future for many things, but I'll probably stick to indoor volunteering.
ReplyDeleteWe did a lot of good work for the refuge. Our work helped out the environment and also helped the workers have less to do so they can focus on the bigger projects. We could have done more, but what we did was sufficient. I would volunteer again.
ReplyDeleteAny work always helps but I believe the work we did do was a minuscule amount. Obviously we were constricted by time, which was out of our control but i wish we could have done a bit more. I would definitely volunteer again to help the community.
ReplyDeleteI think we got a lot of work done for the small amount of time we had to do it. I wish we could of done more, but I think it was a great experience for everyone that was involved. I would definitely go back to help the refuge in the future.
ReplyDeleteI think working at the refuge was a great experience for all of us to have. We were able to accomplish a lot, in the two days we were there, although, I think we could've done more. I really enjoyed working at the refuge and if the opportunity presented itself I would do it again.
ReplyDeleteThe time we put into the refuge was amazing. I will say having more time would've been crucial but the amount of time we put into it was good enough. Yet again, it was a good experience for the people who did not know how to cut down trees, repair fences etc...
ReplyDeleteThis experience didn't influence my willingness to volunteer any more than I do now. I feel that we did help the Refuge with our services, even though we only spent a few hours total volunteering. I believe that any help would benefit the wildlife that remains and that our class continued projects from previous years.
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted to volunteer for something like this. The refuge was an amazing experience, and I think what we did will prove extremely helpful for the environment. I did, however, wish that we had been there for a longer time period. We did a lot in 2 hours, but I wish we could have done more.
